POST Commission Debuts New Dashboards

The Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission recently released three new public dashboards as part of its ongoing efforts to increase transparency and accountability within law enforcement.

The new dashboards provide greater visibility into law enforcement agency internal investigations, overdue investigations, pending discipline, and information about individual officers. They make information POST collects easier for the public, law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and other stakeholders to access and understand.

The agency-focused dashboards also allow law enforcement agencies to see where they stand regarding open investigations and pending discipline, while giving the public greater insight into information that agencies are required to report to POST.

The three new dashboards are:

  • Officer at a Glance: This dashboard allows users to search for an officer and see important information all in one place. Users can view an officer’s current law enforcement agency (LEA), certification status, commendations (coming soon!), LEA-imposed discipline, and POST-imposed discipline.
  • Agency Open Internal Investigations: This dashboard allows users to view law enforcement agencies with open internal investigations, including the number and percentage of open investigations that are overdue. Overdue investigations are those that remain open beyond the applicable deadline.

Law enforcement agencies, members of the public, and other stakeholders are encouraged to explore the new dashboards. The dashboards are updated daily.
