Ways to Submit a Request

Guidance for Submitting a Request

  • Provide as much detail as possible, such as date ranges, when describing the requested records. This will help POST Commission staff efficiently identify records.
  • The POST Commission may charge a reasonable fee before producing records. Broad or large requests are more likely to result in a fee. 
  • The POST Commission can only respond to requests for its records and cannot provide records held by other agencies.  
  • Requests made via telephone will not be accepted.  
  • Questions are not considered a public records request.  

Records Maintained by POST

Categories of public records maintained by the POST Commission include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following: 

  • Regulations and advisories, including those related to complaints, adjudications, recertification, uses of force, school resource officers, constables, auditing, and databases and dissemination of information; 
  • Agendas, meeting packets, and minutes related to the POST Commission’s open meetings; 
  • Press releases and public announcements; and 
  • Guidelines and forms for agencies and officers regarding the certification process.
